Explorer freezes when folder right-clicked on

I have Windows XP with the latest service pack and updates (at least
according to WindowsUpdate.com) but I have a problem with Explorer. When I
right-click on a folder in any explorer window or dialog, I get an hourglass
and explorer.exe stops responding. I have to kill the explorer process to
start working again.

I recently installed WinZip and a couple of (legally purchased) games, and I
used a registry entry to help 'speed up moving and copying zip files' from
here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

The zip entries were this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\CompressedFolder]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{E88DCCE0-B7B3-11d1-A9F0-00AA0060FA31}}
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CompressedFolder]

Other than these things, I can think of nothing that's changed recently.
Any pointers to info would be much appreciated!

I'm afraid that's not my problem (or at least not my symptoms):

In my case:
- Transition effects are not on anyway (one of the proposed solutions)
- Only affects right-clicking (context menus) on *folders* (actually noticed
it's affecting Outlook now as well) but not files
- Processor time is 0 on explorer.exe, not pegged at 100% as in the URL you
sent

If you have any other ideas, I'd be grateful.

My particular problem was not having a PGP-installed service running. Once
I started that service (and set it to automatically start) everything was
fine.
