1) can anyone tell me what these mean in my Task Manager?

2) I ask because my explorer.exe sometimes goes above 200,000 and my
IEXPLORE.exe creeps into 170,000

And the higher they go (they start out at like 25,000 each when I turn
my computer on) the slower my internet connection gets.

I've run all sorts of spyware, virus protection stuff, but nothing
fixes this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Explorer.exe is the Windows explorer (and includes the desktop and
everything associated with it as well as My Computer/Explorer windows.
Its memory use can get quite big, though I would regard that level as
unusual.

Iexplore is Internet explorer. Again will get big if you open windows
on a lot of Internet pages, especially if they open 'child' windows (see
how many if you click its button in the taskbar - you may be surprised)
