Upon opening W Explorer I often (not everytime but consistantly) get an error message that says I should report this error to Microsoft and that any data I am using will be lost whereupon I sent the message and Explorer shuts down. This error mostly occurs when I open Explorer and immediately (1st action) click on 'My Computer', but, it has happended on other selections, also. Any ideas? I have sent the requested MS Error Msg at least 25 times over a period of several weeks and no response.

Bill,
No problems with Internet Explorer? Only Windows Explorer?

Nope! Sent y0u an email to this effect also. Have not noticed any errors of a similar type in Internet Explorer - only in Windows Explorer. Have noticed one thing though - when I right-click on START and select Explorer the error does not occur. At least, it doesn't seem to in the few times I have tried this option. Of course, it may be occuring when I normally click on the QUICK LAUNCH icon because of some combination of some other thing running or not running. Thanks. Bill

This is second reply: By the way, I removed the Explorer icon from Quick Launce and am trying to change my habit of use to the START / Explorer option. Have tried it about 8 times and so far no error. But, would still like to receive any information you have for future reference(s) or for use in helping someone else with the same problem. Thanks. bill

This might just be a damaged shortcut. Find EXPLORER.EXE in C:\WINDOWS\
Right-click it, drag it to the desktop, choose "Create shortcut." You should
then be able to drag it to the QuickLaunch bar, if desired.
If that's not the fix, you might try the appropriate forum at
http://forum.mvps.org/ Either Windows 4.x or Windows 5.x since it's a
Windows Explorer problem.
