Explorer eats up the memory !

hello there!

My machine is: centrino 2Ghz,2Ghz. 2Gb RAM. Windows Xp pro

My problem is: Windows explorer consumes RAM's more and more gradually since
i restart the laptop <<every 2 days coz' during this period i use stand-by
mode>> :-( and it also consumes more CPU resources then :-(.
it starts with 22Mb and reaches 200Mb or even more :-( the whole laptop gets
sloooow !!
the only solution so far is to restart my laptop on a shorter-period basis
but thats not practical cos the explorer will reach a high consumption of Ram
in a short period after i finish working on some program (no mater what it
is). and the ram-consumption never decreases :-(

according to McAfee i have no malwares on my machine !!

any help please !!

Some program/service that is always running has a memory leak (explorer is
Windows user interface). Use MSCONFIG in diagnostic mode to identify the
source of the problem. Beginning with all start-ups disabled, re-enable them
one at a time until the memory problem reappears.

Consuming RAM is not a problem. It's completely normal.

Windows is designed to use all, or nearly all, your RAM all the time.
If your apps don't need it, Windows will try to find another use for
it (such as using it for cache), then give it back when the apps need
it again.

Despite what some people apparently think, this is good, not bad.
Unused RAM is wasted RAM. You paid for it all, and shouldn't want to
see any of it sitting around idle and wasted.

the whole laptop gets
sloooow !!

Look elsewhere for your performance problem. Using RAM isn't the
cause.
