-Could be a number of things, but if nothing's been changed then the first
thing I'd look for is an advertising-Trojan. Scan with Ad-Aware and/or
Hijack This.

Also check the processor for overheating. Might be a jammed-up fan. In many
cases the BIOS screen will tell you the temp. (Del or F2 at startup)

Does it crash at boot (BSOD)? If no download and install the latest IE7
version 5730.11, you may need to download it from a different unit.

Thanks for the post and assistance.

No it doesn't crash on boot-up. In fact the machine will run quite happily
in idel mode. Only when I fire-up Internet and Windows Explorer does the
problem appear. Will try new version of IE to see if that works

Ian, thanks for the response and help. No nothing has really changed. HAVe
run adaware in the past but nothing is found. Haven't run it in safe mode
though. Would that make a difference?

Ian, just tried running Symantec virus scan in safe mode. Halfway through
the scan got the following exception:

"C||WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SERVICES.EXE TERMINATED UNEXPECTEDLY WITH STATUS CODE -
1073741819. THE SYSTEM WILL SHUTDOWN AND RESTART"

AND IT DID....ANY IDEAS?

If you "don't know a lot" then it's best that you lurk and leave the
advice giving to those who do.

Like who? You? LOL

One in twenty of your replies contain any useful advice, and then limited to
generalisations. The other nineteen are just abusive, pointless remarks.

You should take up gardening or something, give you something to do other
than upsetting people you don't know.

People that I seriously doubt you would dare to say what you say to their
faces.

Why don’t you just go away? Your presence just puts a bad taste into what is
otherwise a helpful and pleasant environment.

Your math is seriously flawed... or you're a victim of your own
selective attention.

I am having this same problem on a Dell laptop and it is during bootup. It
started while I was on an internet site using IE7. My web site froze. When
I finally was able to shut down the error msg started during boot up. It
always shuts down and restarts. The system is inaccessible at this point.
Any suggestions guys?
