explorer can't be stopped

When i try to close explorer I get a message that "explorer stopped
working", it offers to notify me if there is a solution.
when i click on close, it reopens explorer.
i know that Vista is able to detect a crashed program and restart it, but
this is a bit much.
is there a way to correct this or at least configure it to work properly?

it happen to me too, it seems if you are just copy some folder or some files
in the explorer and close the explorer before it finishes copying the file
then you will get the not responding error, but in my case I didn't get the
dialoge asking whether or not to reopen it. It closed anyway. I looked in
the application errors logs and there are no recorded error for it. I guess
this is explorer bug.
