How do I copy several thousand files from one hard drive
to another without replacing all the duplicates? I just
want to backup my documents to an external hard-drive,
and hence I'd only like to copy those that are new or
have changed since the last time.

Backup does not work because it is just too much data.
There should be a way to copy a bunch of files and
automatically ignore any that are identical.

Get XXCopy (http://www.xxcopy.com) and set up a batch file for this
purpose.
