explorer and IE lockups

I have a laptop using windows XP pro.
when you open up internet explorere and try to use the
address bar IE stops responding
However if I set google as the home page and search for
the site I tried to type in the address bar I can get to
the site fine.
Also when I double click on "my computer" I just get the
hour glass searching for the drives
System restore was off for some reason so I cannot go
back to a working day. I removed andy new programs and re-
installed IE [removed it from windows component and
reinstalled]
I have even done a repair booting of the XP CD but still
have the same issue
I scanned for spyware and nothing on that front as well

I did all the spyware and virus removal and still am
having the same problems

Once all is clean and clear, run the edit on line 157 for your My Computer
issue, however it should be cleared from cleaning your system.

Doesn't sound like you did, if so, then you wouldn't still be having these
issues. Why would Search only work in Google? Run the edit on line 229:
