I've downloaded the latest version of Anti-Spyware and it
shows me that this software will expire in 36 days. I
tried to solve by uninstalling and then reinstalling but
no results.

Check the installer size and the version of installed application -
probably you have downloaded again older 1.0.509 version (size about
6.3MB), current version is 1.0.614 (size of about 6.6MB). If so - try to
download again the proper one.

I experienced the same thing. Each time I removed it and installed a
new version, the count down stayed the same. This time though, I
uninstalled it again, but afterwards I did a search for microsoft
antispyware on my hard drive and deleted all references to it along w/
the folder in program files. I restarted and installed again and got
the dec 31 2005 date.

Hello,

the old won is in Cache, try a other browser or delete all your cache
with ccleaner or use "fresh Download", get it here
http://www.freshdevices.com/
and after you install that program download MSA again.

You didn't install the very latest update. It appears that if you don't
allow your computer to be validated it keeps feeding you the older version.
Great way to prevent piracy, I think!

I don't think you're even close on this one--actually, the messages I'm
reading suggest NOT validating to get the new code.

All nonsense, I believe--its a caching issue. Wait a bit and you'll get the
right bits in the end.

You're right, of course. I just tried it again and it worked ok.

When I first updated to ver 613, even though I have passed validation, I
chose to download the update without going through the process again. After
I downloaded and installed ver 613 I found that ver 509 was on my computer -
yet.

I went back to the download site and this time I went through the validation
process again. After download and install I now had ver 613.

Why would something like this happen? It appears that I was led to 2
different download areas via 2 different download methods.

But anyway, with ver 614 I get the same download both ways!

There's a load balancing process between any given link, even the "direct"
download links, I suspect, and the actual server doling out the bits. If
you do the right commands while the transfer is in progress, you can see the
name of the company doing this work--it's changed from a year or two
ago--the old company used Linux leading to some poorly thought out
publicity--the current company uses Windows to do the job.

So--just as with newsgroups, successive accesses of the "same" stuff may
come from different servers--prob'ly regardless of activation/not.
