Annoyanceware ? OneHDDware ? This apparently is the way the Serif
programs work too. Ensuring that I won't buy their products. I don't
want to have to re-register every time I change my HDD.

It's more than an annoyance if a company goes out of business - then
it's Catch22ware: you can't re-register the app. . .

and of course a company can stop registering or re-registering apps
whenever they choose to. . .

Perhaps we could label apps RegisterProgramWare when registration
effects the operation of the program.

IMO it would be helpful to make a "ware" distinction between those apps
and Registerware that asks you to furnish personal information to obtain
access to a download link.

A few examples of apps that would qualify for a "RegisterProgramWare" label:

Prevx Home - I believe this app *must* be reregistered if you change to
a new machine or change your email address.

ABC VideoRoll (can't be registered now - IIRC it's semi-useable without
registration)

Canon Mediator (can't be registered now via the link in the app - IIRC
there's a workaround)

Good points. You are quite correct. Software that is tied to a HDD is
definitely Catch22ware. :)

Good point. And that's why such apps should be designated as
Trialware.

LOL annoyanceware I Like it,
I'll always called 'em krapware LOL no offense, but it has always been a
thorn in my side - companies that go out of business kinda sorta but won't
register, or when you have to re-register all the time.

I disagree. Trialware = SuicideWare (or KamikazeWare)

These apps are RussianRouletteWare. They may die. It's *not* a
certainty. ISTM we should point out the *potential* for an early demise
in descriptions of such programs. IMO we haven't been paying enough
attention to that. . .
