Exiting safe mode

How do you exit the safe mode once it's been entered? I
choose the option "start windows normally" and "use last
known good config" but still get thrown back into the safe
mode after choosing both of these options.

Once you have been in safe mode, select restart and then leave the PC to
start windows normally. If get the option menu to use safe mode/last known
config etc then you have another problem that is forcing windows to display
those options.
