When I close down explorer by clicking in the top right
hand corner, the computer closes down, even though there
are other programs running.
Can anyone help.
 
The only thing that I can think of that would do this is a Browser Helper
Object or Toolbar that is shutting down Windows when you close the Internet
Explorer window. What did you install recentently that could be causing the
problem?

On the Add-Remove Programs control panel remove any suspicious programs...
get yourself a copy of one of the free spy-ware programs.
