Exel will not display previously opened files

I show no list of recent documents. I tried changing options-advanced, but
the selection for Disply- Recent documents is grayed out, I can not change
the amount of documents to list . It is grayed out at "0".

Any chance you just turned on TweakUI?

.. In Control Panel, double-click Tweak UI.
2. Click the IE tab.
3. Click to select the Add new documents to Documents on Start Menu check
box, and then click OK.
I am running tweak for vista 64bit I can't find tne entry point on the IE
section

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\
is set to binary 01 00 00 00. NoRecentDocsHistory is a system-level Group
Policy setting.
