This is an old virus.
The following should fix it:
You need to do a cleanboot (step 1)
Make the following registry change (step 2)
Scan the system for viruses (step3)
Step 1:
We want to implement the Cleanboot process using MSCONFIG to rule out 3rd
party software as the cause of this issue. MSCONFIG from XP can also be used
on a Windows 2000 Pro or Server client.
Go to Start\Run type in Msconfig and press OK.
Go to the Startup tab.
Click on "Disable All"
Go to the Services Tab
Click on "Hide all Microsoft Services"
Uncheck the 3rd party services that are left
Press OK twice to reboot.
Once your computer is restarted go through the article below, it applies to
XP as well:
Step 2:
Make sure that the value of the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Exefile/Shell/Open/Command
registry key is set to "%1"%*. Follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type "command" (without the quotation marks),
and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, type "regedt32.exe" (without the quotation
marks), and then press ENTER to start Registry Editor.
4. In the Registry Editor window, locate and click the following key in the
registry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Exefile/Shell/Open/Command
5. On the Edit menu, click String, and then replace any existing value with
the following value:
""%1"%*" (without the quotation marks)
6. Click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.
Step 3 find some Anti-virus software and do a scan or 3.
