Hi Duffy,

You can enable Files not cached under Computer Configuration |
Administrative Templates | Network | Offline Files.

"Lists types of files that cannot be used offline.

This setting lets you exclude certain types of files from automatic and
manual caching for offline use. The system does not cache files of the type
specified in this setting even when they reside on a network share configured
for automatic caching. Also, if users try to make a file of this type
available offline, the operation will fail and the following message will be
displayed in the Synchronization Manager progress dialog box: "Files of this
type cannot be made available offline."

This will work and is what the question asked. However, I don't think it is
the question that he meant to ask. If you don't want to redirect the My
Music folder for laptops, I'm guessing that people have lots of music loaded
that you don't want to get synchronized to the servers, taking up room and
backup space there. You only want the music loaded on each machine. Correct?

If so, I don't know of any way you can do this. The "offline" tag works in
the opposite direction. They refer to files that have their "home" on the
server and will or will not be made available when the laptop is offline from
the server. In this case your users would have no access to any of their
music when they are off the network.

Microsoft implemented the synchronization backwards and it leads to
unnecessary problems. This is one of them.
