Exchange Servers in MS Outlook

Have recently installed MS Office Basic - want to change from Outlook Express
to Outlook for e-mails and to use the Calender & Contacts, but everytime I
try to open Outlook it does not open and comes up with a message about
Exchange Server error. I do not even know what an exchange server is - it is
a stand alone pc using a dial up connection. I can log onto the internet and
use the web and send & receive e-mails via Outlook express, so can anyone
tell me why I cannot open the software of Outlook and any way I can correct
this problem. I have re-installed the office software and done a re-store
point but neither worked. - thanks in anticipation.

Remove any existing mail profiles and then create one that just contains
your POP3/IMAP/SMTP accounts settings. This is all done thru the Mail
applet in the control panel.

* When u open the Mail Applet, select show profiles and remove what you see
here
* Reboot workstation
* Go back to mail applet > show profiles > Add a new profile with a personal
folders file and your accounts settings.
