Scenario: Windows XP SP2, Office 2003 Standard SP2. A user is trying to
connect to an Exchange 2003 Server via RPC over HTTP.

Problem: When the user goes to configure RPC over HTTP, the "Exchange over
the Internet" area on the "Connect" tab of the "Microsoft Exchange Server"
Properties dialog box is not displayed; only the "Connection" and "Modem"
areas are displayed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance,
Roshan

Do you know if a policy was implemented to disable the configuration option?
(Policy is below and the location would be in the HKCU area.)

POLICY "Enable Exchange Over Internet User Interface"
KEYNAME Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\RPC
PART "Choose UI State when OS can support feature:" DROPDOWNLIST
VALUENAME EnableRPCTunnelingUI
ITEMLIST
NAME "Hidden" VALUE NUMERIC 0
NAME "All config UI enabled" VALUE NUMERIC 1 DEFAULT
NAME "Enable only On/Off control but not config UI" VALUE NUMERIC 2
NAME "Enable config UI when settings are pre-deployed" VALUE NUMERIC 3
NAME "Disable but show all config UI" VALUE NUMERIC 4
END ITEMLIST
NOSORT
END PART
END POLICY

Apologies to all: I was told by the user that the machine was running WinXP
SP2, when in fact it was running SP1. I installed the HotFix for this issue
(MS KB Article 331320) for SP1 (because I didn't have time to install SP2 --
that will have to wait for another day) and was able to configure RPC over
HTTP and successfully connect.

Thanks for your time!

I agree, but like I said I didn't have time to do it that day. Also, I was
doing this remotely (via RDP) and I was worried that RDP would be blocked
once I installed SP2 (with the Windows firewall turned on).

Thanks again for the help,
roshan

You really should upgrade the machine to SP2, not just install the hotfix.
