Exchange 2003 to 2007

I am currently using Outlook 2007 and a third party hosted Exchange 2003
server. I want to migrate to Exchange 2007 hosted by the same company. I
only have 2 mailboxes on the server and only 1 of them is sync'd with a
mobile device. Once I setup my new mailbox on Exchange 2007 can I simply
change the Exchange Server Name in Outlook's Acount Setting to point to the
new server? Thereby keeping the same OST file with its data?

That would depend on their migration and the way they have things organized.
You either don't have to do anything or you'll have to remove the Exchange
account and then add the new account and resync data. Changing the name and
using the ost-file of the other Exchange server is very likely not going to
fly. Ask your ISP for further migration details.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The hosting company does nothing to support the migration. It will be like
I am a new customer - I assume that the Server name will change.
I'm not sure I understand "add the new account and resync data" ... if I
delete the account will the OST file still be there? If so then when I add
the new account I just point it to that OST file ... correct?

No, ost-files are specific to the Exchange account and are a local cache.
Therefore when you change Exchange servers you'll have to rebuild the
ost-file. If they don't move your email, you'll have to export your mailbox
to a pst-file first.

I have read that some people feel that you loose data when you do a backup
and restore - will I loose data?

Depends on the method you use. Since you're changing Exchange accounts there
is no way to transfer mailbox specific settings such as views and rules.

I also have a PST file for a POP3 account. It appears that my views exist
for both the OST and the PST ... maybe they will not be lost when I delete
the OST?

The pst-file contains views specific for that mailbox store. Same is true
for the Exchange mailbox.
