excell dialogue box that says it won't quit

Cannot shut computer without power button because
excell "won't quit!" Help please.
 
Susan,

There may be a dialog open (like "Do you want to save the changes?"), or a
macro running. Does this happen only when a certain workbook is open? When
there are no workbooks open? What is the exact wording of the message?
