Excel

I recently discovered that I am no longer able to
open .xls files from any window outside Excel itself (i.e.
email attachment, folder). If I select a .xls file it will
launch the program but gives this alert in the folder
window: "Cannot find the file-path name-(or one of it's
components). Make sure the path and file name are correct
and that all required libraries are available." I'm still
able to open any other Office file type from any window.
Do you know how to correct this problem?

I'd just try reinstalling Office (do a custom install, run all from
computer, etc) to restore the associations.
