Excel won't backup have followed instructions

I'm using Microsoft Excel and Windows XP. My document in Excel won't backup,
I've followed all Microsoft instructions. The Power Point presentation has
been moved over and ready for backup onto the CD, but the Excel document
won't do the same. I keep getting the message "Windows encountered a problem
when trying to copy this file." How can I fix this?
