Excel tables linked to Access

I have two excel files linked and there is less than 3000 records in both files. I created a report in Access and when I run it the results I get are very wrong. I ended up with 80,000+ records and then I tried running a query and got the same results. I am not sure what is wrong.
 
Sounds like you are not making a link between the 2 tables. I'd guess the
exact number you get is RecordsInTableA * RecordsInTableB
