Excel table in a Word document

I linked an Excel table in a Word document. I could see the table in normal
view or print layout view. After closing the file and later re-opening, I
can no longer see the table in these views. It shows up as a file path with
the filename. How do I convert it back to a table I can see in normal view?
 
Toggle off the display of field codes by holding down the Alt key and
pressing F9
