Excel spreadsheet opens in box cannot maxmize to full screen

[Non-Excel guy]

My Excel XP opens jsut fine but teh spreadsheet I am
working on only opens in a 'box' that has no minimize or
maximize buttons on it so I cannot make it go full
screen. I have the slider bars though but I need to make
it fill the Excel work area. How can I change this?

Perhaps the workbook has protection set (Tools, Protection, Protect
Workbook). When the "Windows" option is selected you cannot resize the
workbook window.
