You mean .CSV

(From http://excel.tips.net/Pages/T002483_Creating_a_CSV_File.html)

1.Choose Save As from the File menu. (If you are using Excel 2007, click the
Office button and choose Save As.) Excel displays the Save As dialog box.
2.In the Save As Type drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog box, choose
the CSV (Comma delimited) option.
3.Use the other controls in the dialog box to specify a file name and
location.
4.Click on Save.
5.Excel may display a dialog box telling you that not all Excel features can
be maintained in the format you have chosen. Click on Yes to continue saving
the information in CSV format.
At this point your worksheet is saved in CSV format. I generally find it a
good idea to close the workbook, without saving. At this point you will have
your original Excel workbook (in Excel format) and the CSV file, which
contains the information you wanted in CSV format.

If this post helps click Yes

And when you want to see if the saving to the .csv file worked correctly, don't
re-open the file in excel.

Open the .csv file in a text editor (like NotePad).

If you re-open the .csv file in excel, you may find that some of the fields are
converted to what excel guesses they are.

Hi all,

i tried to s"ave as" the .xls worksheet, but the dropdown choices as as
follows:

1. Microsoft Excel worksheet
2. Web Page
3. XML spread sheet
4. Template
5. Text (Tab delimited)

Save AS has - no option for .CVS file format.

Also, when i tried to open the original file in excel-xp - the "Text Import
Wizard" popped . the choices were -

( ) delimited ....

( ) fixed with ... (spaces) etc..

this was page 1/3.......

i ignored this wizard and just open the file in the original raw data .xml
format. then tried to save-as above - but there is no .cvs file format choice.

what to do next .....

thanks for your replies.
