Excel Slow To Open

B

Bob Brunius

When I open an Excel document from a web, email, or by clicking on it from a
file viewing program, it takes over 60 seconds to open the file. I tried
changing the default command line arguments through Windows Explorer but I
had no success. http://martin.von-gagern.net/howtos/excel2007load

I am often opening CSV files and this delay is killing me.

have you tried doing a cleanup for the OS? I think there are lots of temp
files on your system and Os taking too long to gather the file parts.

Many in our office find that when we double click on an Excel 2007
spreadsheet, Excel launches and displays a blank screen for an interminable
time....but if we then put our cursor on the little shaded dot to the left of
the "Fx" 'insert function' symbol, so that the cursor changes to a double
ended arrow, and click there, the spreadsheet opens immediately. No clue
why, but at least this gets spreadsheets to open.
