Excel should not unfreeze panes when you click on New Window or c.

Excel 2003 unfreezes panes when you click on New Window and view side by
side, or when you compare two spreadsheets side by side.

This drives me nuts as I have large spreadsheets and have the left border
frozen. When I view two tabs at once, I lose that benefit just when I most
need it because I am sharing the screen with another tab.

There should be some option to not automatically do this. Maybe compare
side by side should be an option, not automatic. Or remember where the panes
were and return to frozen when done comparing.

Excel 2002 did not do this.

Thanks,
Wayne

It irritates me, too. But freezepanes belongs to the window--not the
worksheet--just like gridlines and other stuff.

And xl2002 does do it the same irritating way.
