Excel reconfigures on every startup

Paul

Upgraded to 2007 student version, obtained all udpates, ran a series of tests
found on MS site. PPT starts fine, everytime Excel is started, it goes
thru a configuration for about 1 minute. Runs fine after that. How to
not reconfigure very startup?
 
Additional: Word is doing the same thing. install & coinfiguration every
time the program is opened.
