excel program

When I try to acess my saved Excel files, I get this error message block:
EXCEL
X This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Then another block under my saved file title pops up and states:
X Cannot find file (file name) or one of its components. Make sure the path
and file name are correct and that all required libraries are available.

What version Excel? Standalone machine or networked. If networked and
someone else logs on to your machine do they have the same problem?
