Excel Excel Pivot Tables Disabled

I am working with a spreadsheet with 47 sheets (yikes!) and hundreds of pivot tables with a Windows Vista operating system (Excel 2007). Some of the pivot tables have become disabled, ie the dropdown arrows have disappeared from the field options. In most cases it is whole sheets that are afflicted, but there is one sheet that has several pivot tables that are enabled and others that are disabled.

Is it possible to re -enable the pivot tables?
