Hello everybodcreated a folder "Office" in Excel (Excel 2002 SP2 / Windows
XP SP2/ German) beneath favorites to store local and network files to have
faster access to often used files in Excel.

After a couple of month (don't know what was installed between) I tried to
add a new link to an excel file to the favorites:

- Within Excel under the "Web"-Toolbar the option "Add Favorite" is missing,
if I add the symbol "Add Favorite" to the "Standard"- Toolbar and click on
it nothing happens

- in Word everything works fine (can add new favorites..) as in Excel before

- IE6 also works normal, but if I add an link to a file there, I can start
it from IE but beneath Excel under Favorites I can't see it

Hope I think I could state what the problem is in my not to good English.

All tips / ideas / solutions are welcome

Thank you and best regards,

Sascha

Try Tools>Customize>Toolbars.

Select the Web toolbar and "reset".

This should add the Favorites dropdown back to the toolbar.

If not, Tools>Customize>Commands>Web.

Drag the "open favorites" or "Favorites" to the Web toolbar.

Good morning Gord,

thank you for your prompt reply. I followed your instructions, reset the
toolbar, add the icon "Add favorites" to the Web toolbar (what I already did
to the "Standard" toolbar before, see below). But nothing happens, it is the
same situation as before, I can't add favorites in Excel anymore, whereas
Word, IE works (see below) ?!

Any other ideas?

Thank you and best regards,

Sascha

Don't have much more for you.

You could try re-naming your Excel10.xlb file to Excel10.xlbold and let Excel
re-build it and see what transpires.

Sometimes the *.xlb file gets bloated and starts doing funny things.

Hello Gord,

That was the solution - now everything works fine!!!

Thanx a lot!!!
