EXCEL HYPERLINKS STOPPED WORKING

I

Hi,
so, excel 2003, windows xp sp3.
been using these spreadsheets for months, i click on a cell and am taken to
the web page in firefox.
now, it has been unanimously decided by all my excel files that they will no
longer honor my requests to use the hyperlinks.
what did i do? did i muck up a setting in firefox somehow? i don't recall
doing anything, however, the other day page breaks decided to show up in one
of my spreadsheet workbooks and i needed to unclick the page breaks in the
options for EACH sheet in the workbook.
also did something with outlook express, tried to use it at some point this
week. couldn't figure out what is was except an email place and didn't have
time to explore further. didn't do much except open it, and mess around with
trying to find what it's purpose was and where the calendar was supposed to
be.
is there a correlation between whatever i did with outlook, the page breaks
in the one workbook, and the new denial of me being able to use tried and
true hyperlinks in all my workbooks?
tried right click and "open hyperlink" but that doesn't work either.
please tell me there is a universal button i need to press to bring all the
hyperlinks back!
i have rebooted and also tried the edit/links/check status and the status is
'unknown' until i click on check status and then it says 'ok'.
even the links to the web from the excel help file won't work.
when i first open a file and put the cursor over the link the URL info pops
up, but when i press on the link it does nothing and then holding the cursor
over the link shows nothing.
excel hasn't recently asked if i wanted to update the links or whatever it
asks, and i just now told it to just do it without asking.
when i try to edit the hyperlink all of the info is correct, it just won't
connect.
the 'update remote references' box is checked, and i haven't changed it.
Thank You for your help!

Most likely problem is with Firefox...
Open MS-Word
Enter http://www.google.com
Click on the link
If it does not open in Firefox then the problem is not with Excel...

If it opens then try the same with Excel...
If it does not then create a hyperlink to any cell in another sheet in the
same workbook... Does it work?

Hi,
Thanks!
No, the link from Word didn't work, so it's Firefox...
Looked through all the firefox stuff and can't figure out what would make
the hyperlinks work. What do I do now?
Thanks again!

One option is to install Firefox again...
