Excel hanging when using external data source for pivot table

Hi,

My excel window (and ms query window) hangs everytime I
try to get pivot table data from an external source (in
this case, a large text file).

The following is the course of actions I take:
1) go to data -> pivot table -> external data source ->
Next
2) Get Data-> New data source -> name it -> select
microsoft text driver -> select connect -> select File ->
select OK
3)select OK, select columns -> Next -> Next -> Next ->
Finish.

At this point, excel hangs (basically when MS Query
starts)

Any ideas? Thanks so much!!!
