I am using Excel 2002 (XP)
When I print either using gridlines from the "Page Setup"
area or by manually formatting them onto the spreadsheet
and then I print the spreadsheet, the information in the
spreadsheet does is not spaced the same as teh cells so
the cells overlap the text. I have looked all over for a
solution. Any ideas?

Try instead of using "Page setup" this:
Go to Tools-->Options-->View(tab) and uncheck the
Gridlines box on the bottom.

good luck

You might check your printer manufacturer's site to make sure you have the
latest driver for your printer. This does sound like a driver issue.
