Hi,
I often have to import or copy long list of names (text) in excel and
if when one of this names is something like Sept8, excel automatically
recognize this as a date format and transform this into e.g. 1.09.2008.
Once excel has done this there is no way back to the original text entry
even using the "format cell" options. Is there a way just to turn of
this automatic recognition system of excel, or to fix the default to
text format.
Thanks for help,
M

This might not be the answer you're looking for, but if you enter an
apostrophe as the first character in a cell, it should display the text
exactly as it's listed. Ex: Currently A1=Sept8 ==> Change to:
A1='Sept8...
hth,

Paul
