Excel Files not opening normally

Hi
I have an Excel session open with some files. From desktop when I doubleclick o
a new excel file then excel window gets acticvated but the file doesnt ope
( I have checked the winndows menu and it doesnt have the new file listed). If i open th
desired file from File open dialog box then the file gets opened.
This problem has been continuing since last 3 days in my work and home computer and it
is irrespective of any particular file

not sure this will help but try the following:
goto 'Tools-Options-General " and uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

1. Close Excel first and
2. On the Windows Taskbar
2.1 Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2.2 Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
 
I didn't ask my question here, but you have solved my
trouble.
I was having the same kind of trouble, with office2000,
and win98se. Emailed attachments wouldn't open so I would
have to save them and then open excell and then open the
attachment. With this "fix" you have saved me a lot of
time. Thanks a lot.
