Hi,
I hid all of my unused rows and columns within a workbook,
deleted unused sheets and then closed out.
I cannot get it to reopen now.
I've never had that happen before.
Can I open it another way?

TIA

First, I'd check to see if it's open.

File|open your workbook
look under Window on the menubar.
Do you see your workbook name at the bottom?
If yes, then Window|arrange|tiled and resize by hand)

If no, is the UnHide option available. (maybe you saved your workbook as a
hidden workbook.)

If yes to this, just unhide it and resave it.

If those didn't work, do you get any error when you try to open it?

Hi Dave,
No, unfortunately none of those worked.
On file open, I get a white screen as if the file is going
to open and the hour glass. None of the menu items on the
top toolbar are active. The top right X to close button
works and I get the 'Program not responding message...end
now'.
The file will sit in the 'trying to open mode' for a very
long time until you close out.
Is it possible that hiding all the unused cells has caused
a memory problem?

Try starting excel in safe mode:

close excel
windows start button|Run
excel /safe

then File|open your workbook.

If that opens the workbook, then maybe going through Chip Pearson's site will
help:

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/StartupErrors.htm

In fact, it might be worth looking at in any event.
