I am having trouble with saving an Excel file. The file
name gets replaced with a single letter.

1. Dave Peterson was kind enough to tell me that I
should check to see if Excel is running in Windows 95
compatibility mode rather than 97 but I don't know how to
do / check for that. Help!!

2. Dave also said that if I disable the compatibility
mode, the file name problem should go away. Does anyone
know how to do that?

Thanks!!
Nancy

Based on the article to which Dave referred:

you should open Windows Explorer, and find the Excel.exe file (probably
in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office)

Right-click on the Excel.exe file, and choose Properties
Select the Compatibility tab
If there is a check mark in the
'Run this program in compatibility mode for' box, remove it
Click OK
