Excel File Grows Huge

D

Dave Evans

I have Excel 2000 and created a standard data workbook
with three worksheets. Cells are either general verbage
(name, address, etc.) or $ amounts with certain columns
added together. I use columns A to AA and have 789 rows
of entry. There are no graphics or inserted images. The
data file has suddenly grown to 7.5 Meg and
is impossible to work with. Entries made over the last
150 rows seem to have slowed everything down. When I
delete all the rows in the worksheet the file still
remains huge. If I delete the worksheet then the file
drops in size dramatically. I tried using Control+End and
the worksheet ends where it should. Any ideas
what could be wrong?

Hi Dave!

Heaps of tips on reducing the file size. You'll find that Excel 2002
and above are a little more co-operative in terms of reducing file
size.
