Excel file cannot open

When I try to open the Excel 2000 file it gives the
following error message.

The cannot be accessed. The file is read only or you may
be trying to access a read only location etc....

The back up copy of the same file could not be opened in
other machines also.
 
Try this first

Reboot first and then
Delete all the files and subfolders in your \Windows\Temp directory (Win95/98/ME),
or your \Documents and Settings\<user>\local settings\temp directory (Win2K/WinXP)
