Excel.exe has generated errors!

Hi Everyone,

When I click on my Excel icon, I get a message
saying: "Excel.exe has generated errors and will be closed
by windows. You will need to restart the program." I have
uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 2000 standard 3 times
and its still coming up with the error. Could you please
help! Thank you in advance.

Hi Steve,

This isn't guaranteed to solve the problem, but it's worth a try. Use
Windows Explorer to search all of your hard disks for files with a .XLB
extension. Delete any that you find. Excel uses these files to store
information about its toolbar configuration, but they frequently become
corrupt and cause strange problems like this. Excel will create clean new
default versions after you delete the old corrupt ones, but you will lose
any toolbar customizations you've made.

How about another idea there, Rob? Same crapola here,

no .XLB files found here, either. WTF did MS do with their
dynamo system?

The XLB file is often a hidden file, so you'll need to set Explorer to
show hidden files in order to find it and delete it.
