Excel dissapeared cannot downlaod any excel files all other prograamd are

I believe that Open Office has a freeware equivalent

First of all, try searching in START | CONTROL PANEL | ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS to
see if Excel is still there (from the bottom of your screen).

A quicky way I use to download files w/o excel is to just copy the needed
data from Excel and paste it to Word.

Keep us posted if in the ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS you find Excel

Thanks for your response-Yes it is there, and I was able to open it, adn I
restested opening an excel file from an email it opened. Not sure why went on
went on before? The mysteries of technology I guess-

Excel is still in my programs on the start menue- but when I tried it again
it does not opne and a dialogue box comes up that says prepare to install.
The reason it must of opened before because the only way for me to open excel
was to go into the Sony Vaio help support center and go in pick a task and
click applicationa and software problems, run the compatability wizard and
excel is there and I can open there. I am able to open excel only from
there- My doucment information is in their as well such as my files and
folders etc.
