excel crashing problem

I am currently having a problem with a spreadsheet file that we hav
been working on. Everything seems to work ok, but when running i
excel xp it crashes .
The problem occurs when saving the file, although there is no vba cod
that we have set to run when saving. Usually excel will crash and w
get the usual "send error report" dialog. On my pc at home which ha
VC++ installed i can select debug and then i get a message "unhandle
exception 0x0000005 access violation" Does anyone have any ideas wha
the cause of this error could be, or any tips to correct the problem.

Many thanks

xl2002 is sensitive to more (or at least different) things than earlier
versions.

Sometimes, it works in your favor. xl2002 can open workbooks (and repair them!)
when earlier versions couldn't. But sometimes, it works against you.

But in either case, it sounds like your workbook is right on the cusp of having
something bad in it (a worksheet is corrupted???). It might get so bad that
neither version could open the file.

If you can still open it at work in an earlier version, you may want to give
some serious thought to recreating the workbook (or just the problem worksheet,
if you can determine which one it is).

If you wait too long and can't open it in any version, OpenOffice has a
reputation for opening files that excel couldn't.

(http://www.openoffice.org, a 60-65 meg download or a CD)

If the file is really important, there are commercial recovery services. I've
never used it, but you might want to check into:
