I'm not aware of any other size restrictions.
Are there other data/files/directories that have
become corrupted? Sounds more like a server software
or hardware problem.

Good thing you had a solid backup schedule in place ;)

(or now will....)

Most files were large (over 20 mg), although at least two were only 200k

Is anyone aware of any size restrictions on Excel
workbooks? I thought they were limited by available
memory.
Reason:
We had about a dozen Excel files corrupt on us a few
weeks ago (messages included "Unable to read file").

Sounds more like a server software or hardware problem

Thank you for the reply

I agree, but the IT department are only focusing in on Excel. It doesn't help that a report blames it entirely on Excel without any evidence to support that "fact"

What I am now doing is a catch-up exercise to gather any evidence that either supports or disproves that report's conclusions
