Excel copy into Word problem

A

Allenx

I want to paste an image of a
rather large spreadsheet (including
it's row and column headings) into
an MS Word document. The spreadsheet
itself includes macros, comments and other
stuff, but all I want is an image of the
spreadsheet as it would appear on a printer.

The Excel "Copy" --> Word "Paste Special"
"bitmap" method doesn't
copy the column
and row headings.

The Excel "Copy" --> Word "Paste Special"
"picture" copies the rows and column
headings, but truncates the image for
some reason. .

The same problem happens when I try to
copy the image into PowerPoint.

Any ideas?

First: to get the row & column headers. File | Page Setup -> Sheet; set row
and column header on

Second: to copy and paste
Select the area to be copied
Hold down SHIFT and press Edit on menu
There is an item Copy As Picture (not there unless you held down SHIFT)
Select the from menu; in dialog, specified as As Printed (to get the
headers)
Click OK
Move to Word and Paste
Hope this helps - I do this for documentation and book illustrations.
best wishes

Bernard,

This helps, Thank you.
But an error message tells me my
spreadsheet is "...too big and will be truncated".

I'd rather not make the "picture" multiple pages
because it needs to be all there. .
Any more ideas?

What happens if you use the Zoom tool before Copy As Picture?
Download a 30-day trial of SnagIt (www.snagit.com takes you the TechSmith
site) and try that.

You could try:
opening and sizing your source;
then an Alt/Print Screen;
then run an "imaging" pgm (mspaint?) and paste and sizing some more (if
necessary);
then a copy and paste into Word.
Repeat imaging/copy/paste if not quite right.
Maybe you'll have to have a Word Page as landscape.
Don't know fully what you have but it might work.
