excel comment issue

Jerry

Hi, I'm having a problem viewing comments in all of my
Excel 2000 worksheets. Everytime I mouse over the data
cell with the comment indicator it comes up black. The
only way I can view the comment is selecting edit comment.
Any suggestions?

Hi Jerry!

See
Dave McRitchie
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/ccomment.htm#cboxblack

"Sometimes the cell border is responsible for the entire comment box
turns black or real wide borders. change the border width, by
formatting the individual comment, and for the default -- Go to
Windows Control Panel > Display Property > appearance tab > at scheme
dropdown box set Default Windows. (Orlando Filho, 2001-10-08 worksheet
functions). Another cause mentioned was having color resolution at
16-bit instead of at least 32-bit for Graphics card (Sonny
2002-02-02), and also mentioned reducing the HW acceleration would
also make it work properly -- these setting are under Settings,
Control Panel then Display, Settings (tab), Colors. The speed is also
from the Control Panel then Systems icon, the Performance (tab),
Graphics [button] then scale."

Hi Norman,
I have NOINDEX to reduce false hits so search engines like Google
won't find many of my pages directly -- it is on purpose, I
have a lot of related references on many pages and a lot
of similar wording. I didn't want someone not interested in REXX
and not interested in EXCEL getting 200 hits interfering with their search.

But the search engines have improved since Lycos and you generally only get two
hits from a website, it does kind of hurt for not being able to look for
some specific words that you know are going to be within a macro that
you want or want to see how the method is actually used. I did at
least include the word SUB on my home page (My Excel Pages) somewhere.

What I really don't like is finding the same postings in both a
newsgroup search and in a web search (exceltips and excelforum),
but I guess as long as Google Groups and Google act differently
it's probably not that bad for most people. But I expect and like to look
for more polished material on web pages.

Hi David!

I used Ron's Google Search 6.0 in Newsgroup option and found your
exact page from postings by Debra Dalgleish and me. So we did the job
of weeding out the irrelevant searches <vbg>. That I think will be the
case with most of the common questions.

Just a thought though / your opinion. I'm coming round to the view
that rather than just point to a web page, we should point to it
(credit where credit is due) and give an extract if that extract
covers exactly what the poster is after.

I thought you were talking about a web search.

Most of my stuff was put into a newsgroup posting,
which I choose to do, but I don't post updates, and

No you shouldn't be copying someone's web page,
you can in include information about what is there so
someone would know if they've seen it before.

Hi David!

I'm not thinking of extracting pages. More just the small part that
may be required; and clearly referenced.
