Excel can not open file with double click

Hi,

I am using win XP sp2 and excel 2003 (office Pro) spanish versions.

I can not open any excel file with a double click on the file. if I
double click on the file, the application launches and excel starts,
but no file is loaded, I have to manually go file open and select the
file and then it opens correctly...
I have tried by repairing the instalation with the disc but same
behaviour...

As well as this if I right click on the file open with, and select
excel from the applications available, excel gives an error back
saying that it could not locate the life from the full path of the
file, but the file is there...

BTW word works fine double clicking and opening from the application.

Any Ideas
regards
jose

Hi

This are the usual things to fix this

Tools>Options>General uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

Close Excel first and
On the Windows Taskbar

1 ) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

This was the right solution for the problem
Thanks a lot
