Excel Attachments won't open

Two users on same network, both using OL2000 SP3 Internet Mail only. When
one user sends a message with an Excel attachment, her recipient gets message
"Sorry, an application to open this document can't be found". When second
user forwards message to same recipient for her she gets the same message.
However, when second user sends message herself and attaches same Excel file,
it opens without any problems.

Help would really be appreciated. This has been an ongoing issue for user
#1 for quite some time without any resolution. I've checked the knowledge
base and it doesn't have any info. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I'm fairly new at this, so I might be asking
questions that are obvious if you have more knowledge, but here goes...

I understand the instructions will work if my user #1 is the person
receiving the email with an attachment that won't open, but will it still
correct the situation to clear out the temporary file if user #1 is the
person sending the email with the attachment that her recipient can't open?

Thanks, again.

I suspect the first message has had its extension altered so that it's not
..xls and the recipient PC doesn't recognize the file extension. However,
without examining the two PCs, I can only guess.

Thanks for the input. I've spoken to Computer #1 user and apparently the
extension remained .xls, so that's not the problem.
