Excel attachment has empty contents after sent over to another rec

The Excel file has an empty content after the file has been sent via email to
another recipient. Even though it's still showing the actual file size from
the attachment icon, however when recipient opened the file, the file has
just become empty. Anyone has this experience to share? Is the content
really lost?

Hard to say at this level of detail.
Tried it with another Excel file which contains only text (so no dynamic
content)?
Does it work when the file is saved to the Desktop first and opened from
there?
Are there any virus scanners involved here that integrate with
Outlook/Office?
Do you get the same result when trying with other recipients and/or senders?
Which version of Outlook are we talking about here?
Which mail account type is being used?

The file has been saved to the desktop but has empty contents when opened.

This file is a weekly update. The same file received previous week was
fine. In fact the rest of the files (similar format) received from the same
sender (in another email) was ok.

Sender uses Office Outlook 2003 but recipient uses Outlook Web Access.
