I have excel xp and am running Norton Internet security 2003.
Yesterday excel started up in about 20 sec (after running a virus check). I
have security set to medium.
Today I automatically downloaded the latest virus update for Norton and when
I start excel it runs the virus check and I am asked by Norton Internet
Security to give Norton Antivirus permission to access the net. The excel
virus check then seems to refer to the Norton site and it takes 4-5 minutes
for the virus check to complete and excel to start. (Meanwhile my whole PC
seems to stall.)

Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone tell me how to restore
whatever settings have been changed so that I can get back to what I had
yesterday?

Thanks
Chris

From what I have seen, the latest update from NAV is buggy

Do you have Norton Antivirus? If so the latest up has scewed things up. Open
Norton and goto Options/Misc. and uncheck the Office plug in. This seem to
effect every MS Office program. Check other newsgroups about it. That's how
I found out.

Thanks, that stopped the virus check. Now oly have to wait for Norton to fix
it up.
